May 16, 2015, 2 pm to 4 pm
558 Capp Street (cross street 21st St), San Francisco
Help us honor Ted’s commitment, legacy, and humor as we induct him into the San Francisco Tenants Union Hall of Fame. Food and refreshments will be served.
Ted’s dedication, tenacity, humor, and intelligence continue to inspire us. We have maintained our cornerstone tenant counseling – about 500 tenants per month – and streamlined our operations and internal processes. We continue to strengthen our alliance with tenant attorneys, activists, and our strategic partners including the Eviction Defense Collaborative, Housing Rights Committee, and Tenderloin Housing Clinic. We also continue to build on our relationships with coalition partners including the SF Anti-Displacement Coalition, Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, Eviction Free San Francisco, SF Rising, Plaza 16 Coalition, and Tenants Together, as well as neighborhood and tenant groups throughout the area. It is with these collaborative efforts that we lead and stand strong to resist the powerful forces attempting to displace thousands of San Franciscans every year. Recently the Tenants Union has been instrumental in:
- Regulating landlord buyouts of tenants.
- Limiting conversions from affordable rental units to high-priced homeownership.
- Legal actions against illegal AirBnB conversions of housing from residential use to tourist use.
Please join us in continuing our legacy of victories since 1970!
